This item may be a Christmas item, but I find it apt for all year. The width at the top of the hook part is .75 inch and accommodates the handles of two of my strainers nicely.Even if this is described as a Christmas item I use it in my kitchen all year long. The .75 inch notch of the hook accommodates my two strainers. The wide notch of the hook allows me to use one hand to obtain my strainers promptly. The 'antique' close appeals to me and I may use more for pan lids and baskets perhaps. This is a very good value, as some hooks of cast iron and the like are heavy to begin with and may demand toggle bolts etc. I would hold more of these since the design appeals to me, but my kitchen is very small and it is a challenge where to hang equipment. Do not let the description Christmas deter you from using this hook for your needs.t
